Valentine's Day

Are you into it or not so much?  Per Wikipedia, Valentine's Day also called St. Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine is celebrated annually on February 14.  It originated as a Christian feast day honoring a martyr named Valentine.  Through later folk traditions, it has become a significant cultural and commercial celebration of romance and love in many regions of the world.  There are a lot of interesting facts about this day that I had no clue about.

My view on this day has changed dramatically.  When I was much younger it was all about the roses, chocolates, perfume, etc.  I remember getting called down to the main office in high school and feeling so special when I would get something for Valentine's Day. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the gesture but what about the other 364 days?  It also may be the Leo in me that rebels against someone saying this is the day of "LOVE". Today is a money maker for all of the LOVE items.

I had a co-worker share with me something her fiance gave her this morning before she left for work.  It was a black coffee mug, and when it heats up it shows a picture of two senior citizens naked holding their droopy bits.  It made me smile.  That is the kind of gift I appreciate these days.  Maybe it's because I can relate, I don't know!? HA!

Friends, I want to remind you that all of the gifts, sweet words and gestures are so super sweet on Valentine's day but make sure you love yourself enough to understand you deserve that treatment more than just once a year.  That you give the love that you want to receive every single day.  That you understand that you are a masterpiece and should be treated accordingly.

If you are single on this day and you are feeling down, treat yourself to a nice meal, s special gift, or some time doing whatever brings you joy.  We all deserve happiness! Be BOLD!
