Today Was A Good Day!

As I say this in my Ice Cube voice! So my friend Shakiyra and I had planned a beach day about a week ago.  We only knew that we would go to an early lunch, spend a couple hours at the beach and then head home.  She even texted earlier in the week that we would be home at a decent time.  I said, yup!  Sounded good to me.

The morning started with me waking up feeling good!  When you have an autoimmune disease you really never know how you are going to feel from day to day.  So waking up with zero joint pain was already a win for the day.  I pick her up at 10 am and we are off to the liquor store.  We wanted a little something to sip on at the beach.  We picked something either of us had before, stuck it in the cooler and we were off.

The first stop at the beach was Salvaged.  It is a cool eclectic store that upcycles antique and vintage furniture.  I bought a wooded seahorse for my basement bathroom and Shakiyra found my perfect birthday card that she made me not look at while we were at the store.

Next, it was off to Station on Kings in Lewes.  If you live in Delaware this is a much try.  It is our favorite lunch spot.  We split avocado & crab toast and mushroom quiche, delicious!  I had a gift card so the lunch was almost free. When we left we decided we had room to try homemade ice cream that was being sold out of the cutest little trailer next to Station on Kings.  It is called Marigolds Creamery.  After sampling a few amazing flavors we both decided on a scoop of lemon blueberry yogurt.  It was so light and creamy and hit the spot.

On our way to lunch, Sean called to say hello and asked if we were going to be sitting on the beach or going to the boardwalk.  I instantly looked at Shakiyra and said, we forgot our chairs.  So after lunch, we went to Lowe's and bought new beach chairs.  That was an adventure all in itself.  As we were checking out, the cashier mentioned how she didn't like how low our chairs were and asked where we were headed.  We told her Tower Beach.  She said we should go to Savannah Beach and beat the traffic to Tower.  Shakiyra and I were like ok, why not.  We knew what we faced with the traffic and by this time we were ready to start our beach day.  We get to Savannah Beach and were like ok, we can do this.  We got there at 1:30 pm.  We set our chairs up, drinks poured, sunscreen applied, music on, and we were ready to enjoy our day.  It then started to rain.  It sprinkled on us for a few minutes and then the sun was out and we were good to go.  We laughed, talked, got in the water, laughed some more and before we knew it, it was 4:30 pm.  We were not ready to go so we fed the meter for a couple more hours.  I swear it felt as if we were in some weird time warp.  It must have been 6:30 or 7 pm and we decided it was time for dinner.  We were both hungry.  We went to Big Fish in Rehoboth and shared the Seafood Tower.  It was the perfect meal to end the day.

We couldn't believe how fast the time flew by.  I didn't have my watch on so I had no clue what time it was all day and I didn't care.  It was nice!  It was such a relaxing, fun, amazing day! These days are essential for me to recharge my batteries and just relax!  I had nothing on my mind and I was completely present in the moment with my best friend.  Today Was A Good Day! Well, it was yesterday but you get it!

Be BOLD friends and get out there and make memories, make time for YOU!  You are worth it!
