Take The Day!
There used to be a time, actually many years when I would bank my vacation days. When my son played travel ball, many of my vacation days would be saved to travel for him or take a day after a busy ball weekend to catch up on chores. As I have gotten older I have realized that it is essential to take a day off for myself. A day to do whatever I please, however, I please.
My husband works for Corrections and has a less-than-desirable schedule with odd days off. It is vital for us and any couple for that matter to know when a date day/night or quality time together is needed. I can tell at work and home when I feel a little burnt out. I may be a bit more snarky and lay in bed longer when my alarm goes off because 5:30 am is just too early, as I repeat that in my head over and over. The mental exhaustion of the daily grind can sneak up on you and it is imperative that you take time to recharge. It is true what they say, you can't pour from an empty cup and I am making a conscious effort not to let my cup get empty or even half empty.
Be aware of the signs of what it looks like when you are getting to that point of mental exhaustion. Don't wait until you are ready to hide in your closet away from everyone. Take a day off! Do the things that you love alone or with the people you love or do nothing at all. It's your day!
I have decided to take a "me" day on Monday. I am sleeping in until I wake up naturally. Sean and I are headed to a few of our favorite stores and then have dinner together at one of our favorite restaurants. When I started this blog on January 7, 2023, I also mentioned that I was on a weight loss journey. Doing it all at once. Sweet Baby Jesus! I am down about 12 lbs and he is down probably 20+. Don't you just love how men can drop weight? That is coming up in another post soon. Anyway, we decided Monday will be a treat day and we are both looking forward to it. We have been working hard these past couple of months and it is time to have a treat and then get back to it. We have to enjoy those moments and make time for them. Take the day friends, Be BOLD and take the day! You have earned them, use them.
