Back to Work

Hello!  I am back after taking a week off.  I have missed this! The school district I work for was closed on Good Friday and I was initially going to work a couple days last week but the weather was too nice, not to mention my son's car broke down so me having off would allow him to use my car to go to school until the part came in for his car.  My husband double-checked Amazon for the part and paid a little over $10, the auto parts store wanted $100 for the same part.  Do your research friends! We had Easter dinner with friends that are considered family and that was nice.  I really enjoyed not cooking and just enjoying my family.

I was off Monday and Tuesday so Sean and I brought out the patio furniture, hung new lights, power washed stuff, and had our weekly conversation about how expensive groceries are these days after we spent almost $350 and we never know how?

I went to work on Wednesday but decided to take a half day since it was so nice out and I wanted to finish the patio.  I went ahead and took Thursday and Friday off as the weather was going to be in the low 80's and it is a complete ghost town around my office building as so many took off.

My friend Shakiyra came over around noonish on Thursday and we drank wine and of course, had to do a shot.  We just sat on my patio and listened to music, drank wine, and talked. Sean worked a double so when he got home he went straight to bed. I ended up going over to Shakiyra's patio for water, more conversation, music, and Chinese takeout.  It was just a chill day.  It is so nice to have friends in my life that I can just chill with.  Nothing crazy, nothing extra, just ourselves enjoying music, conversation, and beautiful weather.

I read two Coleen Hoover books over break, mostly sitting on my newly cleaned screened-in patio.  Koby completely takes over the couch, throws the pillows on the ground, and lays on every inch of that couch until I make him come in.  I love that baby boy so much!

I am ready to go back to work.  I feel rested and to be honest, I enjoy routine. I don't particularly like waking up every morning at 5:30 am as that is becoming more of a chore the older I get.  I am a morning person so that helps, I guess?? It was nice to be off and I hope you have had the opportunity to relax and unwind lately. It is good for the mind, body, and soul.

Sean and I had some interesting conversations over break that I will share in another blog post but I will say this now. Marriage is a work in progress. Communication is EVERYTHING!  Understanding where someone is coming from and the intent behind their words matters.  Sean and I will be together for 35 years in July, married 31 years in June, and as we grow and evolve so do our communication styles to a certain degree.  As I said, marriage will be a topic later but someone out there needs to hear this.  Self reflect, look at yourself, have you communicated your true feelings in a way your partner really understands what you are saying?  Don't assume they should just know - they don't!

Ok, Now that I have written about everything under the sun, I am going to go and spend the last few hours off relaxing.  I am going to set the intentions for my week and be the BEST version of myself I have to offer.  Be BOLD my friends!  You can handle anything this week ahead has in store for you.
