You'll Be With Me Forever
Doris Jean would have been 89 years old yesterday. November 12, 1934, she was born in Harrisonburg, VA. On June 14, 2024, it will be 30 years that she has been gone, 30 years!! It doesn't even seem possible but my heart says it has been that long. I think about her all of the time but it does get harder around the holidays. Thanksgiving and especially Christmas was her absolute favorite. It just hit me, I have been on this earth longer without her. It truly breaks my heart, still.
This message is for all of you who are finding it difficult to face these next couple of months because you are missing someone. The empty chair, the holiday traditions, and all of the special moments will remind you that they are gone. I would be lying if I said it still didn't hurt but I know as much as Doris Jean loved the holidays, she would want me to continue her love for them. She would want me to have joy in my heart and make new memories with the loved ones who remain. I owe it to her to keep that spirit alive.
Believe me, I know it isn't easy but show up for yourself. Find joy in the little things and don't be afraid to start a few traditions of your own. I am thinking of the brokenhearted and praying you find comfort this holiday season. You are not alone. Be BOLD my friends!
