CHEERS TO 21 YEARS!
Well, many of you know Jacob turned 21 yesterday. Sean and I took him and his girlfriend to a Tavern he selected about an hour from home. It was the first time I met his new girlfriend so there were a few firsts at once. He ordered some top-shelf whiskey, it tasted like gasoline, a peach paradise cocktail and we ended the night with a hefty lemon drop shot. After dinner, we went across the street to a cigar shop and Sean bought him a flavor-infused cigar. These things are definitely things I never imagined myself doing with my sweet baby boy 21 years ago.
So for me, this age is interesting. He is really trying to do all of the adult things in life, but that young boy still resurfaces from time to time. I am going to enjoy this next chapter with him as I know his time at home is limited and will be coming to an end sooner rather than later.
Ok, I know you are wondering about the girlfriend.. She was sweet and very smart. You could tell by the conversations we had through the evening. I appreciated how she carried herself and she had outstanding manners. She challenges Jacob in a good way. I am definitely looking forward to more time with her so I can get to know her better. Sean and I really liked the way they communicated with one another.
Jacob went out with his friends after we dropped him off. He told us there wasn't a lot happening on a Tuesday in Newark but of course, he had some funny stories, drank way too much, and felt like crap all day today. Memories he won't soon forget!
Time flew by way too fast from 12/12/02 to 12/12/23. Enjoy your kids at every stage of their youth. It truly does go by in the blink of an eye. Be BOLD friends!
